Orioles swept at Kansas City
The Orioles are coming off getting swept at Kansas City, scoring just seven runs over the three games. Baltimore is 40-97 overall and 16-53 on the road. The Orioles are putting up 3.91 runs per game on offense while allowing 5.50 per contest on defense.
Baltimore hands the ball to Josh Rogers today. He is making just his second start of his career. His first start was a win over the Blue Jays where he allowed three runs over five innings on seven hits. Rogers had two strikeouts with one walk.
Mariners in a funk
Seattle was pushing to contend in the AL for a while, but they have lost five of their last seven games and are coming off a four-game split with the Athletics. The Mariners are now 76-61 overall and 38-28 at home. Seattle averages 4.16 runs per game on offense this year while giving up 4.52 per contest.
Erasmo Ramirez gets the start for Seattle today. He has started six games this year and has a 1-3 record with a 6.28 ERA and a 1.50 WHIP. Ramirez has 20 strikeouts and seven walks over 28.2 innings of work this year.
MLB Betting Trends
Baltimore
The Orioles are 3-12 in their last 15 Monday games and 9-44 in their last 53 road games against a right-handed starter.
Seattle
The Mariners have won seven of their last eight Monday games and 9-3 in their last 12 games against a team with a win percentage below .400.
Prediction:
Baltimore and Seattle have both been struggling and both have pitchers that haven’t been stellar in their short stints this year. Ramirez is coming off a really poor outing at San Diego. He has shown some flashes of good pitching, allowing just one earned run or less in three starts this year. But, when he is bad, he is really bad. Still, Seattle needs this win. If the Mariners are going to still contend for a playoff spot, they can’t lose these home games to a really poor Baltimore team.
The Pick: Seattle Mariners -205
