Zack Britton notched his first save of the season Wednesday in the Yankees' 5-2 win over the Royals. It was a bullpen game for the Yankees, as they got five innings out of Lucas Luetge, Albert Abreu and Joely Rodriguez before handing things off to Chad Green, Jonathan Loaisiga and then Britton. Green was credited with the win, allowing one hit while striking out three over two scoreless frames. Loaisiga also had a scoreless inning and so did Britton, pitching around a hit by pitch and an error to close things out. He's clearly not the team's best reliever, but Britton still might make the most sense to serve as the Yankees' closer while Aroldis Chapman (elbow) is out, allowing manager Aaron Boone to use Green and Loaisiga in high-leverage spots and multiple innings when needed.
Chicago White Sox DFS Spin
Lance Lynn will start the Field of Dreams game for the White Sox on Thursday against the Yankees. He had been scheduled to start Wednesday afternoon's series finale versus the Twins, but the White Sox will now go with Reynaldo Lopez in that one after Carlos Rodon landed on the 10-day injured list due to left shoulder fatigue. Lynn, the current betting favorite for the AL Cy Young Award, owns a stellar 2.04 ERA, 1.047 WHIP, and 130/35 K/BB ratio through 114 2/3 innings this season for the AL Central leaders.
