Jacob deGrom has been the unluckiest pitcher in baseball this season, entering today's start with a 5-7 record despite a sparkling 1.85 ERA. Will deGrom get some help from his New York Mets teammates today as they host the Cincinnati Reds in a series finale?

Reds roll to win
Cincinnati claimed a 6-1 victory Tuesday night behind a solid pitching outing from Sal Romano. Romano gave up one earned run on two hits with five strikeouts and three walks over six innings to pick up the win. Scooter Gennett helped lead the offense as he finished 3-for-4 with two runs and an RBI. Patrick Ervin went 1-for-2 with a home run, three RBIs and a walk. Dilson Herrera added a pinch-hit solo homer.
Nimmo reaches base three times
Brandon Nimmo finished 2-for-3 with a double, a walk and a run scored in Tuesday's defeat. Todd Frazier was 1-for-3 with a walk. Jose Bautista finished 1-for-3 with a walk and an RBI. Jason Vargas suffered the loss as he lasted only one-third of an inning, giving up three earned runs on three hits with one strikeout and no walks. His ERA ballooned to 8.75.
Robert Stephenson (0-0, 0.00) will make his first MLB start of the season today, while the Mets counter with deGrom.
MLB Betting Trends
Cincinnati
The Reds are 1-8 in their last eight road games. The over is 11-5 in the last 16 Cincinnati road games.
New York
The Mets are 4-10 in their last 14 Wednesday games. New York is 11-26 in its last 37 home games.
Prediction:
Stephenson had plenty of promise a few years back, but his stock has fallen some although he is still plenty young enough to carve out a successful career. Meanwhile, deGrom is due for a win as he has been stuck on five wins for far too long. As bad as the Mets are, they are long past due to back deGrom with a good performance.
