Philadelphia Phillies DFS SPIN
Zack Wheeler delivered another dominant performance in a no-decision against the Padres on Friday, scattering four hits over 7 2/3 innings of shutout baseball. The right-hander piled up nine strikeouts on the night and didn't walk a batter. Despite the dominant outing, Wheeler generated just nine whiffs on the night (four on his slider) and posted an underwhelming CSW of 23 percent. What he did do, was keep the ball on the ground, with 12 ground ball outs compared to just one fly ball. Unfortunately for the Phillies, and his fantasy managers, the Phillies bullpen was once again unable to protect the lead. He has been unbelievable this season, compiling a 2.05 ERA, 0.94 WHIP and 139/25 K/BB ratio over 114 innings. He'll do battle against the Cubs his next time out at Wrigley Field on Wednesday.
Chicago Cubs DFS Spin
Alec Mills was charged with two runs over 5 2/3 innings on Friday in a loss to the Reds. Mills flummoxed the Reds, scattering two baserunners over five frames before issuing a one-out walk to Jonathan India and a two-out single to Nick Castellanos, which chased him from the contest in the sixth inning. He was charged with both runs after reliever Adam Morgan gave up a two-run double to Joey Votto. The soft-tossing 29-year-old righty has allowed three earned runs or fewer in four consecutive starts since rejoining the Cubs' rotation in mid-June. He owns a bloated 4.85 ERA, 1.45 WHIP and 35/15 K/BB ratio across 42 2/3 innings (17 appearances, five starts) this season. He'll square off against the Phillies at Wrigley Field in his final outing before the All-Star break.
Phillies vs. Cubs Betting Prediction
The Phillies are 5-1 in their last six games versus a right-handed starter, are 7-2 in their last nine games versus National League Central opponents and have now taken six straight from the Cubs overall. Chicago, meanwhile, has dropped 11 straight games, is 1-4 in its last five games when playing the third game of a series and is 0-6 in its last six games versus a right-handed starter.
