NBA Finals Favorites To Avoid

Which of the top teams in the NBA this season should you avoid placing your championship wagers on for the 2020 playoffs? Here’s three teams we don’t like.

According to the latest oddsmakers, the Milwaukee Bucks are favored right now, as they are getting odds of +250 to win. Other short odds to prevail are the Los Angeles Lakers (+275) and the Los Angeles Clippers (+350).

The Bucks are favored by oddsmakers to win it all, but I just don’t like their playoff makeup. Giannis Antetokounmpo is a great player, but I don’t believe he can take over a crucial playoff game with his offense. Milwaukee is known for its offensive ability, yet in last year’s playoffs, they were held to 102 points or less in three straight games against the Raptors. I think Milwaukee will run into similar problems with a good and physical defense. I just can’t trust the Bucks to find their way to the title and I don’t think they have any value as the favorite.

The Rockets are always among the favorites because of James Harden, but we have seen it time and again, that they just can’t get the job done in the postseason. The Rockets added Russell Westbrook, but then traded away their frontcourt talent to run with a smaller lineup. While it may lead to some success during the season, the Rockets don’t have the build of the championship Golden State teams that ran a small lineup. They don’t have the shooting or defense to get it done that way. I don’t think the Rockets stand much chance against the likes of the Clippers and Lakers.

The 76ers are a team that seem like they should be a championship contender on paper. They have a pretty deep roster and one of the top big men in the league in Joel Embiid. Yet, Philly hasn’t been able to get the right formula together to win a championship or get to the NBA Finals. Philly has been great at home this year, but is just 9-19 on the road. The 76ers are going to have to win on the road to advance in the playoffs, but they have struggled a great deal offensively away from home. The 76ers also seem to have an issue with chemistry between Embiid and point guard Ben Simmons.
