Harvick wins at Darlington

2013-harvick01-360

DARLINGTON, SC (TheSpread) – Kevin Harvick looked to have the best car on Saturday night, and ultimately finished first in the Bojangles’ Southern 500.

View Current NASCAR Odds

Harvick was leading late and looked to be on his way to a win until a caution flag came out and pushed him to sixth with eight laps to go. The race would eventually be forced to attempt two separate green-white-checkered finishes before Harvick passed Dale Earnhardt Jr. on the final lap to get the win.

According to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, Harvick had 8/1 odds to win this race, which means a wager of $100 on Harvick to win will pay out an additional $800.

Jimmie Johnson was also in the lead late in the race, but had trouble on a restart and fell behind Harvick and Earnhardt Jr. The win for Harvick is his second of the year, making him the first driver to win two races in 2014. Harvick led 238 laps on the day, dominating most of the race.

Jeff Gordon is still on top of the point standings, he is one point ahead of Matt Kenseth for first. Gordon took seventh on Saturday while Kenseth finished fourth. Earnhardt Jr. moved to fourth in the standings, 26 points out of first. Harvick is still well back of the points lead, but has all but assured himself a spot in the Chase due to having two wins.
