DAYTONA BEACH, FL (TheSpread) – In one of the wildest Daytona 500’s ever in history, it was Matt Kenseth that came out victorious in the year’s biggest race.

In a race that was supposed to begin on Sunday afternoon, it ended up concluding on Tuesday early morning thanks to a once-in-a-lifetime accident that took place with 40 laps to go.

Juan Pablo Montoya lost control of his car during a caution and collided with a service truck that was drying the truck. An immediate explosion took place as fuel leaked all over the track and delayed the race for well over an hour.

Once the race resumed, it had an exciting finish as Dale Earnhardt Jr. was surging late, but was unable to get past Kenseth, thanks to some blocking efforts from Greg Biffle.

Kenseth came into the Daytona 500 with 18/1 odds to win the race, meaning a $100 wager on Kenseth will pay out an additional $1,800.
