Astros pitchers pounded in loss

Houston suffered a 12-3 home loss in Game 2 of the World Series Wednesday night versus Washington. The contest was tied 2-2 until the Astros allowed a combined nine runs between the seventh and eighth innings. Justin Verlander suffered the loss as he gave up four earned runs on seven hits over six innings, striking out six and walking three. Alex Bregman helped lead the Houston offense as he finished 1-for-4 with a home run and two RBIs. Martin Maldonado went 1-for-1 off the bench with a solo home run. Jose Altuve ended the game 3-for-5 with a double. Zack Greinke gets the start for Houston tonight after giving up one earned run on four hits with five strikeouts and four walks over 4 1/3 innings in an 8-3 win at New York in Game 4 of the ALCS.

Nats bust out in late innings

Washington broke a 2-2 tie in Game 2 of the World Series Wednesday night at Houston with six runs in the seventh inning and three in the eighth to roll to a 12-3 victory. Kurt Suzuki helped pace the Nationals offensively as he went 2-for-5 with a solo home run that broke the tie in the seventh. Adam Eaton ended the contest 2-for-4 with a home run, two runs scored and two RBIs. Michael Taylor went 1-for-1 with a pinch-hit solo homer. Anthony Rendon was 1-for-4 with a double, a walk and two RBIs. Stephen Strasburg notched the win as he allowed two earned runs on seven hits with seven strikeouts and one walk over six innings. Anibal Sanchez will start tonight for Washington after throwing 7 2/3 innings of one-hit shutout baseball with five strikeouts and one walk in a 2-0 win at St. Louis in Game 1 of the NLCS.

MLB Betting Trends

Houston

The Astros are 5-2 in the last seven Greinke road starts. Houston is 36-15 in its last 51 games overall.

Washington

The Nationals are 8-0 in their last eight playoff games. Washington is 4-0 in its last four Friday games.

Prediction:

Houston had a historically good regular season and it was weird watching it take it on the chin at home in Game 2, especially after dropping the World Series opener. This is a must-win Game 3 for the Astros and I like their chances, especially if they give Greinke a little more rope this time around. While he hasn't been great in the postseason, Greinke has the ability to drop a gem on 'em any time he takes the hill. I'm banking on that happening here as his cool and collected demeanor at all times suits the desperation of the situation perfectly. Sanchez was awesome against the Cardinals, but this Houston offense is an entirely different beast. I like Houston to get a game back here and make this series interesting.
