Greinke hammered in Game 3
Houston suffered a 10-3 loss at Tampa Bay Monday afternoon in Game 3 of the ALDS. Zack Greinke suffered the loss as he allowed six earned runs on five hits with five strikeouts and one walk over 3 2/3 innings. Jose Altuve helped pace the Astros offense as he finished 2-for-4 with a solo home run and a double. Yuli Gurriel went 2-for-4 with two RBIs. Yordan Alvarez ended the contest 2-for-4 with a double and a run scored. Justin Verlander gets the start today for Houston after going seven shutout innings in Game 1 as he gave up only one hit with eight strikeouts and three walks in a 6-2 victory.
Rays pound four homers
Tampa Bay cruised to a 10-3 win Monday afternoon in Game 3 of the ALDS to keep its season alive at home. Willy Adames helped lead the Rays offense as he finished 3-for-3 with a solo home run, a double, a walk and two runs scored. Kevin Kiermaier was 1-for-4 with a homer and three RBIs. Ji-Man Choi finished 1-for-4 with a solo home run plus a walk. Brandon Lowe ended the game 2-for-4 with a solo homer. Charlie Morton picked up the win as he gave up one earned run on three hits with nine strikeouts and two walks over five innings. Diego Castillo will be the opener for Tampa Bay today as he comes in with a 5-8 record, 3.41 ERA and 1.24 WHIP during the regular season plus 81 strikeouts across 68 2/3 innings pitched.
MLB Betting Trends
Houston
The Astros are 8-2 in their last 10 road games. Houston is 50-19 in its last 69 games overall.
Tampa Bay
The Rays are 17-5 in their last 22 games on astroturf. Tampa Bay is 2-6 in its last eight playoff home games.
Prediction:
Tampa Bay busted out at home against the usually tough Greinke, but its reward is a return meeting with Verlander after he made it look silly in Game 1. While Tampa Bay might make it interesting with an opener in Castillo followed by a bulk reliever, I can't bet against Verlander in this spot. Houston is heavily favored for good reason. Go with the Astros.
