Colorado cruised to a 12-0 home win Sunday afternoon over Washington to force today's Game 163. Charlie Blackmon hit for the cycle in the win as he finished 4-for-5 with a home run, a triple, a double, three runs and three RBIs. David Dahl finished 1-for-5 with a home run and three RBIs. Nolan Arenado was 2-for-4 with two home runs, a walk and three RBIs. Trevor Story ended the game 2-for-4 with a home run, a walk and two RBIs. Chris Iannetta finished 1-for-2 with a double, two walks and a run. Tyler Anderson threw 7 2/3 innings of shutout baseball to pick up the win as he gave up four hits with five strikeouts and three walks.

Dodgers dominate rival Giants to force tiebreaker

Los Angeles secured a 15-0 victory at San Francisco last night to improve to 91-71 on the season and punch its ticket for today's tiebreaker game to decide the NL Central title. Chris Taylor finished 1-for-3 with a double, two walks and two runs from the leadoff spot to help pace the offense. Justin Turner ended the contest 1-for-2 with a double, two runs and an RBI. Max Muncy came off the bench to go 1-for-2 with a 2-run home run. David Freese was 2-for-4 with two runs and an RBI. Manny Machado went 2-for-3 with two runs and an RBI. Enrique Hernandez finished 3-for-5 with a triple, two runs and two RBIs. Matt Kemp was a perfect 3-for-3 with two doubles, a run and three RBIs. Brian Dozier went 1-for-3 with a home run, two walks and three RBIs. Austin Barnes contributed a solo home run off the bench. Rich Hill earned the win as he threw seven shutout innings with two hits allowed plus seven strikeouts and no walks.

German Marquez (14-10, 3.76 ERA) will start today for Colorado, while LA counters with Walker Buehler (7-5, 2.76).

Prediction:

Although the Dodgers might have the home-field advantage, I actually like the Rockies here. Marquez has one of the best road ERAs in baseball this season and has pitched very well against LA this season, with all three starts actually coming before he started pitching his best baseball. Buehler has faced the Rockies a few times more recently than Marquez has seen the Dodgers, so Colorado hitters have a bit of an advantage in terms of scouting the pitcher. Colorado has the exact same 44-37 road record as Los Angeles' 44-37 home record. I think the Rockies will manage to carve out a few runs and then ride the dominant Marquez and a very good bullpen from there.
