MLB Postseason, Wild Card Round
St. Louis Cardinals DFS Spin
Harrison Bader went 2-for-3 with a homer and two runs scored as the Cardinals topped the Brewers 5-2 on Sunday and clinched a postseason berth. Bader hit a leadoff triple in the bottom of the third inning and scored on an infield single by Kolten Wong before then launching a towering solo shot into Big Mac Land in the bottom of the fourth. St. Louis is now set to face off against San Diego in a best-of-three first-round matchup beginning Wednesday at Petco Park.
San Diego Padres DFS Spin
Chris Paddack is expected to start for the Padres in Game 1 of the Wild Card Series on Wednesday versus the Cardinals. It was actually Cardinals manager Mike Shildt who revealed that news Tuesday via Zoom. San Diego has some injuries in its starting rotation -- Mike Clevinger (biceps, elbow) and Dinelson Lamet (biceps) -- so the club has been coy about the exact pitching plans for the opening round. Clevinger threw a 23-pitch bullpen session on Tuesday afternoon at Petco Park and projects to work a potential Game 3.
Cardinals vs. Padres Game 1 Betting Prediction
This St. Louis team couldn’t hit itself out of a wet paper bag. If Paddack and the San Diego bullpen pitches around Paul Goldschmidt, the rest of the Cardinal lineup is littered with outs. And while the Padres offense is dynamic, their offense hasn’t exactly ripped the cover off the ball of late either. The shadows at Petco Park could also play a factor at some point and with the under going 11-5-2 in the cardinals’ last 18 road games, I see this one today staying under, too.
MLB POSTSEASON BETTING PREDICTION: CARDINALS/PADRES UNDER 8
