Indians fall flat
Cleveland dropped a second straight game at the White Sox Thursday night as it fell by a score of 8-0. The Indians were led offensively by Roberto Perez as he finished 1-for-2. Carlos Santana, Franmil Reyes and Greg Allen all went 1-for-3. Aaron Civale took the loss as he gave up four earned runs on three hits with four strikeouts and three walks over 3 1/3 innings. Zach Plesac draws the start tonight as he enters with an 8-6 record, 3.82 ERA and 1.22 WHIP plus 82 strikeouts over 110 2/3 innings pitched.
Nats win fifth straight
Washington doubled up visiting Philadelphia by a count of 6-3 Thursday night to improve to 90-69 overall and 47-31 at home. Stephen Strasburg picked up the win as he gave up one earned run on four hits with 10 strikeouts and no walks over six innings. Asdrubal Cabrera paced the Nationals offense as he was 2-for-2 with a home run, a double, a walk, two runs scored and two RBIs. Michael Taylor finished 3-for-4 with a solo homer and a double. Ryan Zimmerman went 1-for-3 with a walk and a run. Austin Voth gets the start tonight for Washington as he comes in with a 1-1 record, 3.35 ERA and 1.17 WHIP plus 39 strikeouts over 37 2/3 innings of work.
MLB Betting Trends
Cleveland
The Indians are 7-2 in their last nine Friday games. Cleveland is 9-4 in the last 13 Plesac starts.
Washington
The Nationals are 1-6 in the last seven Voth starts. Washington is 4-1 in its last five games versus the AL West.
Prediction:
The Indians are in desperation mode and I like their chances here in what I see as a coin toss game. I rate Plesac as the slightly better starting pitcher and if Cleveland can get to Voth a little bit, it can take advantage of a vulnerable Nationals bullpen. The Indians' offense is due for a bust out game after a couple duds and I think this is a good spot for that to happen.
