deGrom sensational in win
Jacob deGrom threw eight innings of two-hit shutout baseball with 10 strikeouts and no walks last night in a 3-0 home win over the Braves. Seth Lugo threw a spotless ninth inning with one strikeout for his third save of the season. Michael Conforto helped pace the offense by going 2-for-3 with a solo home run, a double, a walk and two runs. Dominic Smith went 2-for-4 with a home run and two RBIs. Brandon Nimmo was 0-for-1, but drew two walks.
Braves held to two hits
Ronald Acuna Jr. went 1-for-4, while Johan Camargo finished 1-for-3 in yesterday's loss at New York. Luke Jackson took the loss in relief as he gave up one earned run on two hits with two strikeouts in an inning of work.
MLB Betting Trends
The over is 7-3 in the last 10 Braves games overall. Atlanta is 11-5 in its last 16 Thursday games.
The under is 9-4-1 in the last 14 Mets games overall. New York is 4-12 in the last 16 meetings.
Vargas is one of the poorest starting pitchers in MLB this season and Atlanta should be able to bounce back strong after getting a taste of deGrom last night. Teheran can be inconsistent, but he should be focused today on rounding into playoff form. Go with Atlanta here, but do check the lineup to see if some starters are resting.
