Greinke two outs from no-hitter
Zack Greinke lost his no-hitter with two outs in the ninth inning Wednesday night in a 3-0 victory at Seattle. Greinke departed after allowing two hits with nine strikeouts and one walk over 8 1/3 innings pitched. Will Harris retired both batters he faced with one strikeout to record the save. Alex Bregman helped lead the Astros offensively as he went 3-for-4 with two doubles, a run scored and an RBI. Kyle Tucker finished 1-for-3 with a solo home run. Yordan Alvarez ended the contest 1-for-4 with a double and an RBI. Wade Miley gets the start tonight for Houston as he enters with a 14-6 record, 3.91 ERA and 1.33 WHIP plus 138 strikeouts over 163 1/3 innings pitched.
Angels edged by A's
Los Angeles blew a ninth-inning lead Wednesday night at home against Oakland to fall by a score of 3-2. Taylor Ward led the Angels offense as he finished 2-for-3 with a solo home run. Kaleb Cowart went 1-for-4 with a double and an RBI. Jared Walsh was 1-for-3 with a double. Hansel Robles took the loss as he gave up two earned runs on three hits with two strikeouts and no walks over an inning of work. Jaime Barria draws the start tonight as he comes in with a 4-10 record, 6.43 ERA and 1.44 WHIP plus 71 strikeouts over 78 1/3 innings.
MLB Betting Trends
The Astros are 5-0 in their last five road games. Houston is 7-1 in the last eight Miley road starts.
The Angels are 3-12 in their last 15 games versus the AL West. Los Angeles is 1-6 in its last seven Thursday games.
Houston has a 2 1/2-game cushion on the Yankees for home-field advantage through the playoffs and I think it will want to put the clamps down on that before perhaps resting players over the weekend. The Astros have a fairly deep roster and might rest in spurts, but I do expect them to take this one seriously. Los Angeles lacks a lot of offense with so many players missing and the runline bet really sticks out.
