Brewers hit four home runs in win
Milwaukee used the long ball to help it to an 8-3 victory at the Pirates Friday night. Christian Yelich was 2-for-4 with a double, a walk and two runs to help lead the way. Jesus Aguilar went 1-for-4 with a double, a walk, a run and an RBI. Travis Shaw was 1-for-2 with a 2-run homer plus two walks. Ryan Braun was 1-for-2 with a walk, a run and an RBI. Keon Broxton finished 1-for-2 off the bench after replacing Braun and hit a solo home run. Mike Moustakas ended the contest 1-for-5 with a 2-run homer. Erik Kratz was 1-for-3 with a solo home run. Corbin Burnes earned the win in relief as he allowed one hit in a scoreless inning of work.
Bullpen struggles for Pirates
The Pittsburgh bullpen gave up seven of the eight runs in yesterday's defeat against the Brewers. Edgar Santana suffered the loss as he allowed four earned runs on three hits with a walk while not recoriding an out. Josh Bell helped pace the offense by going 2-for-4 with a solo home run. Corey Dickerson was 2-for-4 with a home run, a triple and two RBIs.
Zach Davies (2-6, 4.66 ERA) draws the start today for the Brewers, while Trevor Williams (13-9, 3.16) goes for the Pirates.
MLB Betting Trends
The Brewers are 15-6 in their last 21 games overall. The over is 6-2 in the last eight meetings.
The Pirates are 8-1 in their last nine home games. The under is 13-3-1 in the last 17 Pittsburgh home games.
Pittsburgh might not be the better team, but it has the better starting pitcher in this matchup and should get a better day out of its bullpen if it establishes a lead and turns to the core relievers. Davies should give up a few, which will likely be enough for Williams to navigate his way through.
