Murphy, Baez power Cubs to win

Daniel Murphy finished 2-for-3 with a home run, a walk, three runs and two RBIs in last night's 9-1 victory at Arizona. Anthony Rizzo was 1-for-4 with a run and a pair of RBIs. Javier Baez was 2-for-4 with a home run, two runs and two RBIs. Ben Zobrist went 1-for-3 plus a walk. Mike Montgomery earned the win as he gave up one earned run on four hits with eight strikeouts and a walk over six innings.

Marte homers for lone run

Eduardo Escobar was 1-for-1 with a double plus a walk in last night's loss to Chicago. Ketel Marte went 1-for-3 with a solo home run. Socrates Brito and Jeff Mathis were both 1-for-2. Matt Andriese suffered the loss as he allowed five earned runs on five hits with four strikeouts and no walks over two innings.

Cole Hamels (9-9, 3.67 ERA) will take the mound today for the Cubs, while the D-backs will turn to Robbie Ray (5-2, 4.14).

MLB Betting Trends

The under is 8-1 in the last nine Cubs games overall. The over is 6-2 in the last eight Chicago road games.

The Diamondbacks are 4-13 in their last 17 Wednesday games. The under is 5-2-1 in the last eight meetings.

Hamels has provided a nice boost to the Cubs rotation, while Ray has pitched better as of late and is occasionally dominant. If I trusted the Arizona offense more right now, I might take the hosts. But I expect Chicago to be able to get some runs on the board, enough to support Hamels and the bullpen. Fade Arizona right now.
