The Los Angeles Dodgers took over first place in the NL West last night with a home win over the Colorado Rockies. With first place hanging in the balance again tonight, can Los Angeles pad its division lead with another victory?

Pederson homers twice in win

Joc Pederson had a big day at the plate in last night's 8-2 home win over the Rockies as he was 3-for-4 with two home runs, a double, three runs and three RBIs. Justin Turner was 2-for-3 with a walk and a run. Max Muncy finished 1-for-3 with a home run, two walks, two runs and three RBIs. Yasiel Puig ended the game 2-for-4. Cody Bellinger was 1-for-3 with a walk. Hyun-Jin Ryu threw seven shutout innings for the win as he allowed four hits with five strikeouts and no walks.

Arenado has two-hit night

D.J. LeMahieu finished 1-for-4 with an RBI in last night's loss at LA, while Nolan Arenado was 2-for-4 with an RBI. Matt Holliday ended the game 1-for-3 plus a walk. Jon Gray took the loss as he was rocked for six earned runs on seven hits with one strikeout and two walks over two innings.

Kyle Freeland (15-7, 2.96 ERA) will start tonight for Colorado, while Los Angeles counters with Clayton Kershaw (8-5, 2.51).

MLB Betting Trends

Colorado

The under is 7-1 in the last eight Rockies games following a loss. The under is 7-2 in the last nine Colorado road games.

Los Angeles

The Dodgers are 68-22 in Kershaw's last 100 starts. Los Angeles is 26-6 in Kershaw's last 32 starts versus the Rockies.

Prediction:

Kershaw has had Colorado's number for years, just like he's had most every team's number. While Freeland has had an outstanding season for the Rockies, matching up with Kershaw on the road isn't going to provide him much run support. I'd imagine this is a close and low-scoring game, but I expect LA to prevail.
