Red Sox edge Mets in finale
Boston was able to withstand New York ace Jacob deGrom Sunday afternoon in its series finale at home, getting to the bullpen for the go-ahead run in the eighth inning to prevail 4-3. Brock Holt helped lead the way as he was 1-for-4 with a 2-run home run. Steve Pearce was 1-for-3 with a double and a walk. Rafael Devers and Christian Vazquez both finished 1-for-3 with a run scored. Brandon Workman picked up the win in relief as he struck out two and walked one in a scoreless inning of work. Steven Wright earned his first save of the season with one strikeout and one walk in one inning.
Yankees continue struggles
New York has now lost four of its last five games following Sunday's 3-2 home loss to the Blue Jays. Andrew McCutchen was 1-for-4 from the leadoff spot, hitting his fourth home run since being traded to the Yankees. It was a solo shot. Giancarlo Stanton ended the contest 2-for-3 with a walk and a run. Didi Gregorius finished 1-for-2 with a walk and an RBI. Dellin Betances took the loss in relief as he allowed two earned runs on four hits with a strikeout in one inning of work.
Nathan Eovaldi (5-7, 4.22) will start tonight for Boston, while New York counters with J.A. Happ (16-6, 3.75).
MLB Betting Trends
Boston
The Red Sox are 40-14 in their last 54 Tuesday games. Boston is 47-18 in its last 65 games overall.
New York
The Yankees are 21-6 in their last 27 Tuesday games. New York is 7-1 in Happ's last eight starts.
Prediction:
Eovaldi has really struggled since joining the Red Sox, while Happ has put together a lot of solid starts with the Yanks. With Happ getting the run support to help him out, I like New York to take tonight's game.
