Syndergaard shuts down Red Sox

New York righty Noah Syndergaard threw seven shutout innings at the Red Sox Friday night in an 8-0 victory. He allowed three hits while striking out six and walking three. Amed Rosario helped pace the offense by going 2-for-5 with a solo home run and two runs scored. Jeff McNeil was 2-for-5 with a solo homer. Michael Conforto was 1-for-3 with a double, a walk and two runs. Jay Bruce finished 2-for-5 with a home run and four RBIs. Todd Frazier was 1-for-3 plus two walks. Austin Jackson ended the night 1-for-4 with a home run and two RBIs.

Kinsler has two-hit night

Ian Kinsler paced the Red Sox offense last night as he finished 2-for-3 with two stolen bases. J.D. Martinez was 1-for-2 with a walk, while Mookie Betts went 1-for-4. William Cuevas suffered the loss as he allowed two earned runs on three hits over two innings, striking out four and walking one.

Corey Oswalt (3-2, 6.62 ERA) gets the start today for the Mets, while the Red Sox counter with Rick Porcello (16-7, 4.27).

MLB Betting Trends

New York

The Mets are 8-18 in their last 26 interleague games. New York has won its last four games.

Boston

The Red Sox are 47-14 in their last 61 interleague games. Boston is 22-7 in its last 29 Saturday games.

Prediction:

The Red Sox ran into a talented starting pitcher last night, but Oswalt doesn't provide anywhere close to the same challenge as Syndergaard. I'd expect Boston to pour it on tonight to offset yesterday's shutout. Porcello has gotten good run support all season and is always capable of spinning a gem. I'm taking Boston on the runline.
