Rays use long ball to down Angels

Tampa Bay powered to an 11-4victory Friday night at Los Angeles to improve to 88-61 overall and 45-29 on the road. Jesus Aguilar and Austin Meadows helped lead the Rays' offensive effort as they both went 2-for-4 with a home run and two RBIs. Willy Adames finished 2-for-3 with a solo home run, a walk and two runs scored. Guillermo Heredia ended the contest 1-for-4 with a solo homer. Charlie Morton picked up the win as he gave up three earned runs on six hits with four strikeouts and one walk over six innings. Tyler Glasnow starts tonight for Tampa Bay as he enters with a 6-1 record, 2.15 ERA and 0.93 WHIP plus 60 strikeouts across 50 1/3 innings pitched.

Calhoun homers twice in loss

Los Angeles fell by a score of 11-4 at home Friday night against Tampa Bay to drop to 67-81 overall and 35-38 at home. Kole Calhoun led the Angels offensively as he ended the night 2-for-4 with two home runs and three RBIs. Luis Rengifo was 2-for-4 with an RBI. Albert Pujols went 1-for-4 with a double and a run scored. Andrew Heaney suffered the loss as he was shelled for six earned runs on 10 hits with three strikeouts and no walks over 3 1/3 innings. Jaime Barria takes the mound tonight as he enters with a 4-8 record, 6.14 ERA and 1.42 WHIP plus 66 strikeouts over 70 1/3 innings of work.

MLB Betting Trends

Tampa Bay

The Rays are 5-1 in their last six Saturday games. Tampa Bay is 4-0 in the last four Glasnow road starts.

Los Angeles

The Angels are 4-1 in their last five Saturday games. Los Angeles is 0-6 in the last six Barria starts.

Prediction:

Glasnow was a bit shaky in his first start back from injury, but he did strike out five over two innings. He'll be on a pitch count today, but I expect he'll be sharper and I trust the Rays bullpen behind him. As for Barria, I think Tampa Bay gets to him like most other teams have. Check the lineup and see if Mike Trout remains out before placing a bet, but even if he is in the lineup I have no issues playing the Rays here.

MLB DAILY PREDICTION: TAMPA BAY RAYS -142
