Mets rally against Marlins
New York scored twice in the ninth inning at home yesterday to down Miami by a count of 4-3. Back-to-back home runs from Michael Conforto and Todd Frazier secured the win in the final inning. Frazier went 1-for-3 with the long ball plus a walk, while it was Conforto's only hit in four at-bats. Steven Matz helped his own cause by going 1-for-2 with a 2-run home run. Kevin Plawecki finished 0-for-1 with two walks and a run. Joey Blevins struck out the side in the top of the ninth inning to earn the win.
Red Sox hold off Blue Jays
J.D. Martinez went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in yesterday's 4-3 series finale home win over Toronto. It was his 41st homer of the season. Xander Bogaerts finished 2-for-4 with a double and a run. Rafael Devers was 1-for-2 with a solo homer off the bench. Craig Kimbrel struck out one in a spotless inning of work for his 40th save.
Syndergaard (11-3, 3.44 ERA) will start today for the Mets, while the Red Sox counter with Hector Velazquez (7-2, 3.29).
MLB Betting Trends
New York
The over is 6-2-1 in the last nine Mets games overall. New York is 8-20 in its last 28 interleague games.
Boston
The Red Sox are 47-13 in their last 60 interleague games. Boston is 39-13 in its last 52 home games.
Prediction:
The Red Sox are dominant at home, but have a tough matchup today versus Syndergaard. He's capable of slowing down any offense and Boston actually has taken a step back offensively in recent games. Velazquez has overachieved somewhat this year and if there's ever an opportunity to get good value on a road team at Fenway Park, it might be tonight.
