Atlanta lost by a score of 9-5 Thursday night at Philadelphia to drop to 91-57 overall and 44-29 on the road. Adam Duvall helped lead the Braves offense as he ended the game 1-for-2 with a home run, two walks and two RBIs. Ozzie Albies was 2-for-4 with a homer, a double, a walk and two RBIs. Ronald Acuna Jr. finished 2-for-5 with a solo home run and two runs scored. Julio Teheran sufferend the loss as he allowed five earned runs on five hits with one strikeout and three walks over four innings. Mike Soroka gets the start tonight as he enters with an 11-4 record, 2.67 ERA and 1.11 WHIP plus 126 strikeouts across 158 2/3 innings pitched.
Nats pound Twins
Washington picked up a 12-6 victory at Minnesota Thursday night to wrap up its interleague series. Adam Eaton helped pace the Nationals offensively as he ended the contest 2-for-5 with a solo home run and two runs scored. Anthony Rendon went 2-for-3 with a homer, a double, two walks, two runs and three RBIs. Juan Soto was 2-for-5 with a home run, two runs scored and three RBIs. MLB Betting Trends
Atlanta
The Braves are 4-0 in their last four series openers. Atlanta is 58-28 in its last 86 games overall.
Washington
The Nationals are 11-1 in the last 12 Scherzer starts. Washington is 20-9 in its last 29 games overall.
Prediction:
With Scherzer on the mound at home, it's hard to go against the Nats here. While Soroka will likely limit the damage, Washington's offense is in very good form and is probably going to do enough to support Scherzer. I don't mind the risk of this underdog bet, but I'm siding with a Nats team still looking to solidify its standing at the top of the Wild Card race.
