Dodgers finally solve Reds
Los Angeles had lost the previous six meetings with Cincinnati this season, but the seventh and final game proved to be the charm Wednesday afternoon as the visitors rolled 8-1. Joc Pederson helped pace the offense by going 2-for-3 with a solo home run, a double and two runs. Justin Turner was 2-for-5 with a double, a run and three RBIs. Max Muncy went 1-for-3 with two walks and two runs. Yasmani Grandal finished 3-for-5 with a double and three RBIs. Yasiel Puig was 3-for-4 with a double, a walk and two runs. Caleb Ferguson gave up one hit and struck out three in a scoreless inning of relief to get the win.
Cardinals edged by Pirates
St. Louis scored once in the eighth and once in the ninth Wednesday, but was unable to get over the hump in a 4-3 home loss to Pittsburgh. Marcell Ozuna was 1-for-4 with an RBI to help pace the offense. Yairo Munoz went 1-for-4 and scored a run. Daniel Poncedeleon took the loss as he allowed two earned runs on five hits over five innings, striking out seven and walking one.
Clayton Kershaw (7-5, 2.42 ERA) will take the mound today for the Dodgers, while the Cardinals will go with Adam Gomber (5-0, 2.93).
MLB Betting Trends
The under is 6-2 in the last eight Dodgers games following a win. The under is 9-4-1 in the last 14 LA games overall.
The Cardinals are 23-10 in their last 33 games overall. The under is 35-16 in the last 51 meetings.
Gomber has not lost in the big leagues, but who better to end that streak than Kershaw? The Dodgers ace did not have his best start last time out and will be looking for something better here. Expect a stellar effort out of him backed by a Dodgers offense with the ability to go off in any given game.
