Dodgers finally solve Reds

Los Angeles had lost the previous six meetings with Cincinnati this season, but the seventh and final game proved to be the charm Wednesday afternoon as the visitors rolled 8-1. Joc Pederson helped pace the offense by going 2-for-3 with a solo home run, a double and two runs. Justin Turner was 2-for-5 with a double, a run and three RBIs. Max Muncy went 1-for-3 with two walks and two runs. Yasmani Grandal finished 3-for-5 with a double and three RBIs. Yasiel Puig was 3-for-4 with a double, a walk and two runs. Caleb Ferguson gave up one hit and struck out three in a scoreless inning of relief to get the win.

Cardinals edged by Pirates

St. Louis scored once in the eighth and once in the ninth Wednesday, but was unable to get over the hump in a 4-3 home loss to Pittsburgh. Marcell Ozuna was 1-for-4 with an RBI to help pace the offense. Yairo Munoz went 1-for-4 and scored a run. Daniel Poncedeleon took the loss as he allowed two earned runs on five hits over five innings, striking out seven and walking one.

Clayton Kershaw (7-5, 2.42 ERA) will take the mound today for the Dodgers, while the Cardinals will go with Adam Gomber (5-0, 2.93).
