Castillo strong on mound
It's been a rocky season for Reds starting pitcher Luis Castillo, but he was on his game Tuesday night in leading the hosts to a 3-1 victory. He allowed one earned run on four hits with nine strikeouts and one walk over 6 1/3 innings to pick up the win. Raisel Iglesias threw a scoreless ninth inning with one walk and one strikeout for his 26th save of the season. Scott Schebler went 2-for-4 with a solo home run and two runs scored from the leadoff spot to help pace the offense. Jose Peraza went 2-for-4 with a double. Scooter Gennett was 2-for-3 with a walk and an RBI. Eugenio Suarez ended the game 2-for-4, while Brandon Dixon was 1-for-3 with a solo homer plus a walk.
Pederson accounts for lone run
Joc Pederson finished 2-for-4 with a solo home run in yesterday's defeat for the Dodgers. Yasmani Grandal went 1-for-3 with a double and a walk. Hyun-jin Ryu suffered the loss as he allowed three earned runs on eight hits over five innings, striking out six and walking one.
Ross Stripling (8-3, 2.61 ERA) will start today for LA, while Cincinnati is turning to Anthony DeSclafani (7-4, 4.56).
MLB Betting Trends
Los Angeles
The under is 9-4 in the last 13 Dodgers games overall. The under is 7-2 in Stripling's last nine road starts.
Cincinnati
The over is 7-3 in the last 10 Reds games on Wednesdays. Cincinnati is 7-1 in DeSclafani's last eight starts.
Prediction:
It's inconceivable that the Reds have a chance to go 7-0 against the Dodgers this season. If Los Angeles could have just won a few of those games, it would be in first place in the NL West. I'm saying a season sweep doesn't happen as Stripling has often been a steadying force this season. DeSclafani has had his moments this season, but has also been hit hard in many starts and his home ballpark does him no favors. Go with LA here.
