Philadelphia Phillies DFS Notes
Kyle Gibson was pounded for eight runs in 5 1/3 innings by the Marlins on Friday. Gibson has had an exceptional season, but he relies more than most on his defense and Philly's just isn't any good. He's now 4-3 with a 4.46 ERA for his new team and 10-6 with a 3.30 ERA overall.
Milwaukee Brewers DFS Notes
Freddy Peralta surrendered four runs on three hits over two innings in Friday's loss to the Cardinals. Peralta had been out of the rotation with shoulder inflammation for the past two weeks before being activated from the injured list for Friday's start. The rust showed. While the 25-year-old right-hander fanned two in the first inning against the Cards, he also surrendered a two-out, two-run home run to Nolan Arenado. The second inning proved no less problematic, with the frame starting out in sequence with a hit-by-pitch, a walk and two singles. After giving up two runs along the way, Peralta struck out the final two batters in the inning before calling it a night. He finished his two innings of work having thrown 53 pitches (30 for strikes). While Friday's outing was sloppy, Peralta's stuff was still on the money, with four of six outs recorded via the strikeout in the short outing. Peralta will look for sharper results when he takes his 2.70 ERA, 0.96 WHIP and 168/53 K/BB ratio (123 1/3 innings) into a home date with the Phillies next time out.
