Nola solid over seven innings
Philadelphia ace Aaron Nola threw seven innings Friday night to record the win in a 4-3 triumph at New York, giving up three earned runs on three hits with eight strikeouts and a walk over seven innings. Tommy Hunter threw a spotless ninth inning for his third save of the season. Carlos Santana was 1-for-4 with a 2-run homer to lead the offense. Rhys Hoskins hit a solo home run in four at-bats. Asdrubal Cabrera was 1-for-4 with an RBI.
Bruce, Smith homer in defeat
Jay Bruce finished 1-for-4 with a solo home run in yesterday's loss by the Mets, while Dominic Smith went 1-for-3 with a homer. Jeff McNeil was 1-for-4 with an RBI double. Tyler Bashlor suffered the loss in relief as he allowed one earned run on one hit with two strikeouts over one inning.
Zach Eflin (9-6, 4.05 ERA) will take the mound for Philly tonight, while New York turns to Syndergaard (10-3, 3.33).
MLB Betting Trends
Philadelphia
The under is 9-2 in the last 11 Philadelphia games on Saturdays. The under is 14-6-1 in the last 21 Phillies road games.
New York
The under is 10-4-1 in the last 15 meetings. New York is 63-32 in the last 95 meetings.
Prediction:
Syndergaard is coming off his best outing of the season and should be geared up to limit a Philadelphia offense that has struggled some over the last several weeks. Eflin looked to be breaking through a couple months ago, but has fallen on hard times of late. While he should have a decent outing against the Mets, I don't think it will be enough to overcome very little run support.
