Nats rally falls shot

Washington scored three in the top of the eighth inning but it was not enough Friday night as it fell 4-3 at Atlanta. Ryan Zimmerman paced the Nationals as he finished 1-for-4 with a home run and three RBIs. Howie Kendrick finished 2-for-4 with a run scored. Trea Turner ended the game 2-for-5. Patrick Corbin took the loss as he gave up two runs (one earned) on three hits with nine strikeouts and six walks over five innings. Austin Voth draws the start tonight as he enters with a 1-0 record, 3.91 ERA and 1.17 WHIP plus 24 strikeouts over 23 innings of work.

Keuchel, Donaldson guide Braves

Atlanta held off visiting Washington Friday night to record a 4-3 victory to improve to 88-54 overall and 46-27 at home. Josh Donaldson paced the Braves offense as he went 1-for-2 with a home run, two walks and two RBIs. Ozzie Albies was 2-for-4 with a solo home run plus a double. Adam Duvall ended the game 1-for-3 with a double, a walk and a run scored. Dallas Keuchel recorded the win as he threw six shutout innings with six hits allowed, three strikeouts and two walks. Shane Greene notched his first save with the Braves as he struck out two in a perfect inning of work. Julio Teheran gets the start tonight as he comes in with a 9-8 record, 3.38 ERA and 1.32 WHIP plus 146 strikeouts over 157 1/3 innings.

MLB Betting Trends

Washington

The Nationals are 1-4 in their last five games overall. Washington is 5-2 in its last seven road games.

Atlanta

The Braves are 5-1 in their last six Saturday games. Atlanta is 55-25 in its last 80 games overall.

Prediction:

I'm not ready to bet against Atlanta right now, especially with a rookie pitcher. This moneyline seems like it could be wider and I plan on taking advantage. Perhaps the Braves are "due" for a loss, but I'm not sure I see it happening here. Atlanta is the smart play.
