Red Sox sleepwalk in Chicago

Boston was shut out 8-0 Sunday afternoon in its series finale at the White Sox, splitting the four-game series. Xander Bogaerts helped pace the offense by going 2-for-3 with a stolen base. J.D. Martinez finished 2-for-3 with a walk. Brian Johnson suffered the loss as he surrendered four earned runs on seven hits with two strikeouts and one walk in 1 1/3 innings.

Braves take two of three from Pirates

Atlanta secured a 5-1 home win against Pittsburgh Sunday to win two out of three in the series. Ronald Acuna Jr. led the way by going 3-for-4 with a solo homer, a double and two runs scored. Ozzie Albies finished 2-for-4 with a stolen base and an RBI. Dansby Swanson was also 2-for-4 with an RBI. Jonny Venters picked up the win in relief as he retired the only batter he faced.

Nathan Eovaldi (5-7, 4.35 ERA) will start today for the Red Sox, while the Braves turn to rookie Touki Toussaint (1-0, 1.50).

MLB Betting Trends

Boston

The Red Sox are 41-13 in their last 54 games on grass. Boston is 44-14 in its last 58 interleague games.

Atlanta

The under is 12-3 in the last 15 Braves games. Atlanta is 9-25 in the last 34 meetings with the Red Sox.

Prediction:

Boston uncharacteristically struggled yesterday against James Shields and now face a promising rookie in Toussaint for the first time. With travel and a day game, I'm going to go with Atlanta here as it gets to stay at home. Plus, Eovaldi has really struggled lately after starting the season in fine fashion with the Rays before being traded.
