Verlander throws third career no-no

Justin Verlander retired 26 batters in a row after a first-inning walk as he no-hit host Toronto Sunday afternoon with a 2-0 victory. Verlander struck out 14 batters to go with the one walk n the no-hit gem. Abraham Toro provided the offensive heroics for the Astros as he hit a two-run home run with two outs in the top of the ninth inning to break a scoreless tie. It was the only hit for Toro in four at-bats. Alex Bregman ended the contest 1-for-3 with a double, a walk and a run scored. Aledmys Diaz was 1-for-3 with a double. Houston will turn to Gerrit Cole today as he enters with a 15-5 record, 2.85 ERA and 0.96 WHIP plus 252 strikeouts over 170 1/3 innings.

Brewers shut out Cubs again

Milwaukee won via shutout for a second straight day at Chicago Sunday afternoon as it prevailed by a count of 4-0. Jay Jackson picked up the win in relief as he gave up two hits with one strikeout and one walk over two innings of scoreless relief. Christian Yelich led the offense as he went 1-for-4 with a home run, a walk and three RBIs. Ben Gamel finished 2-for-4 with a run scored. Trent Grisham ended the game 1-for-4 with a walk and a run scored. Adrian Houser draws the start today for the Brewers as he enters with a 6-5 record, 3.52 ERA and 1.28 WHIP with 87 strikeouts over 87 innings pitched.

MLB Betting Trends

Houston

The Astros are 4-0 in their last four interleague games. Houston is 4-0 in the last four Cole Monday starts.

Milwaukee

The Brewers are 2-6 in the last eight Houser starts. Milwaukee is 38-14 in the last 52 home games versus the Astros.

Prediction:

Houston has traditionally struggled in Milwaukee and I'm thinking it might have a no-hitter hangover after yesterday. The overall numbers for Houser aren't spectacular, but he's given up exactly one earned run in five of his last six starts. Cole can be dominant, but he's in a hitter's park here and if Houser continues his recent surge the Brewers probably won't need to scratch much across.
