It was the only hit for Cabrera in four at-bats. Roman Quinn finished 1-for-4 with a double and a run scored. Cesar Hernandez was 1-for-4 with an RBI. Pat Neshek earned the win in relief as he threw a spotless 10th inning.
Baez hits 29th home run
Daniel Murphy and Albert Almora both finished 2-for-5 in last night's loss at Philadelphia. Javier Baez ended the night 2-for-5 and accounted for the lone run by Chicago with a solo home run. Willson Contreras walked twice in four plate appearances. Jose Quintana had two hits in two at-bats to help his own cause. Steve Cishek took the loss in relief as he allowed one earned run on one hit in two-thirds of an inning.
Kyle Hendricks (10-10, 3.86 ERA) will start today for Chicago, while Zach Eflin (9-5, 3.99) will go for the Phillies.
MLB Betting Trends
Chicago
The under is 9-2 in the last 11 Chicago road games. The Cubs are 8-2 in their last 10 games overall.
Philadelphia
The under is 8-2 in the last 10 Phillies games on Saturdays. Philadelphia is 2-7 in its last nine games following a win.
Prediction:
Chicago has been playing the better overall baseball lately and Hendricks has pitched well over the last month. Eflin has the stuff to be a solid starter in the big leagues, but he is fairly inconcistent right now. Look for the Cubs to take advantage as the Phillies could very easily have a letdown after a thrilling victory.
