Dodgers bullpen struggles again

Los Angeles blew a 3-0 sixth-inning lead Friday night at Arizona as it lost 5-4 to drop to 88-49 overall and 36-31 on the road. Yimi Garcia took the loss in relief as he allowed one unearned run on one hit with four strikeouts and no walks over 1 1/3 innings. Enrique Hernandez helped lead the Dodgers offense as he finished 2-for-4 with a double, two runs scored and an RBI. Cody Bellinger went 1-for-4 with a triple and an RBI. Matt Beaty was 2-for-5 with an RBI. Kershaw draws the start tonight as he enters with a 13-3 record, 2.76 ERA and 1.00 WHIP with 159 strikeouts over 150 innings pitched. 

D-backs rally to win

Arizona scored the go-ahead run on a balk in the bottom of the eighth inning Friday night at home as it overcame a three-run deficit in the latter innings to down Los Angeles by a score of 5-4. Eduardo Escobar led the Diamondbacks offensively as he finished 3-for-4 with a home run, a double and two RBIs. Josh Rojas was 1-for-3 with a homer, a walk, two runs scored and two RBIS. Jarrod Dyson ended the contest 1-for-3 with a run scored plus a walk. Archie Bradley picked up the win in relief as he gave up one hit with three strikeouts over 1 1/3 innings of scoreless baseball. Robbie Ray gets the start tonight as he comes in with an 11-7 record, 3.86 ERA and 1.29 WHIP with 193 strikeouts over 147 innings of work.

Arizona

The Diamondbacks are 5-0 in their last five games overall. Arizona is 7-2 in the last nine Ray starts.

Prediction:

Home runs have hurt Kershaw this season, but when the ball isn't flying out of the yard he is having another damn good season. He can be downright unhittable when he is on. Ray has a high strikeout rate, but can be erratic at times. I'd rather take my chances with Los Angeles here, especially since the best arms in the D-backs bullpen are a bit fatigued.
