Odorizzi strong in last start

Minnesota veteran right-hander Jake Odorizzi took the loss despite pitching well in his last start at Oakland as he surrendered two runs (one earned) on five hits over seven innings, striking out four and walking one. On the season, he holds a 4.38 ERA and a 1.36 WHIP. He's pitched good baseball for the most part in five August starts with a 3.51 ERA and a 1.09 WHIP, striking out 22 batters and walking seven over 25 1/3 innings. Today will mark his 28th start of the season.

Clevinger continues solid stretch

In his last start, he gave up three earned runs on four hits with eight strikeouts and two walks over six innings. He has a 2.70 ERA and a 1.20 WHIP in five August starts, striking out 30 batters and walking 10 in 30 innings. On the season, Clevinger has a 3.30 ERA and a 1.23 WHIP with 163 strikeouts over 163 2/3 innings.

MLB Betting Trends

Minnesota

The under is 24-10-1 in the last 35 Twins games on Thursdays. Minnesota is 6-1 in its last seven Thursday games.

Cleveland

The Indians are 44-17 in their last 61 Thursday games. Cleveland is 12-4 in Clevenger's last 16 starts versus the AL Central.

Prediction:

While motivation might be a bit tough for the Indians right now, talent can sometimes get the job done regardless. Clevinger should hurl another quality start and he'll be backed by a Cleveland offense that is well equipped to go to Odorizzi. With Minnesota struggling so much on the road, this seems like a prime spot to take the favorites.
