Indians double up Tigers

Cleveland claimed a 4-2 victory Wednesday night at Detroit to improve to 78-55 overall and 37-28 on the road. Jason Kipnis led the Indians offense as he finished 2-for-4 with two solo home runs. Francisco Lindor went 3-for-5 with a solo homer, a double and two runs scored. Carlos Santana ended the game 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI. Adam Civale took the loss as he gave up two earned runs on six hits with five strikeouts and no walks over seven innings. Mike Clevinger will start this afternoon for Cleveland as he enters with a 9-2 record, 3.00 ERA and 1.12 WHIP with 113 strikeouts over 78 innings of work.

Lugo homers in loss

Detroit fell by a sore of 4-2 Wednesday night at home veruss Cleveland to drop to 39-91 overall and 17-45 at home. Dawell Lugo helped pace the Tigers as he finished 1-for-4 with a solo home run. John Hicks ended the game 1-for-3 with a run scored. Victor Reyes was 2-for-4 with a double. Buck Farmer took the loss in relief as he gave up one earned run on two hits with two strikeouts and no walks over one inning of work. Daniel Norris gets the start today for Detroit as he comes in with a 3-10 record, 4.70 ERA and 1.39 WHIP with 107 strikeouts over 126 1/3 innings pitched.

MLB Betting Trends

The Indians are 4-1 in their last five games overall. Cleveland is 7-1 in the last eight Clevinger starts.

The Tigers are 2-11 in their last 13 Thursday games. Detroit is 6-2 in the last 28 Norris home starts.

Clevenger is the type of power pitcher with nasty stuff that the Tigers are bound to struggle against. I don't trust Norris to be on the same level and I think a bet on a Cleveland team chasing the first-place Minnesota Twins in the AL Central race is the only way to go.
