Buehler shuts down Padres

Los Angeles rolled to a 9-0 victory Tuesday night at San Diego to improve to 88-47 overall and 35-29 on the road. Walker Buehler guided the Dodgers as he threw six shutout innings with four hits allowed, 11 strikeouts and two walks. Matt Beaty helped pace the offense as he finished 3-for-4 with two runs scored and an RBI. A.J. Pollock went 3-for-5 with a solo home run and two runs scored. Joc Pederson ended the contest 2-for-5 with a solo home run. Kenta Maeda gets the start tonight for LA as he enters with an 8-8 record, 4.13 ERA and 1.11 WHIP with 146 strikeouts over 133 innings pitched.

Padres unable to find offense

San Diego was shut out on five hits Tuesday night in a 9-0 home defeat against Los Angeles. Cal Quantrill suffered the loss as he was shelled for eight earned runs on eight hits with one strikeout and two walks over 4 1/3 innings. Ty France helped lead the offense as he went 1-for-1 with a double off the bench. Manny Machado was 1-for-3 with a double, while Eric Hosmer also ended the game 1-for-3. Trey Wingenter will start tonight for the Padres as he comes in with a 1-3 record, 4.60 ERA and 1.20 WHIP with 63 strikeouts over 45 innings of work.

MLB Betting Trends

Los Angeles

The Dodgers are 4-0 in the last four Maeda starts. Los Angeles is 4-0 in its last four Wednesday games.

San Diego

The Padres are 2-5 in their last seven games overall. San Diego is 1-4 in its last five games versus a right-handed starter.

Prediction:

San Diego was humbled by Buehler and the Dodgers last night. While I certainly don't see that kind of lopsided result here, I have to side with the Dodgers. Maeda has dealt with a lot of bad luck this season that other LA starters haven't had to this extent. Those kind of things generally even out over time and I expect Maeda to have a strong start tonight. Go with the Dodgers as the road favorites.
