Padres edged at Rockies
San Diego lost its last two games at Colorado this week after winning the series opener, falling 4-3 on Thursday afternoon. Freddy Galvis helped lead the way by going 2-for-5. Jose Pirela finished 3-for-5 with a pair of RBIs. Hunter Renfroe ended the game 1-for-4 with a solo home run. Franmil Reyes finished 1-for-2 with a walk. A.J. Ellis went 2-for-4 and scored a run. Kirby Yates took the loss as he allowed two earned runs on two hits with two strikeouts in two-thirds of an inning.
Dodgers swept at home
Los Angeles lost all three games at home to St. Louis, losing Wednesday by a count of 3-1. The Dodgers were held to two hits in the loss. Joc Pederson was 1-for-4 with a solo home run to provide the only run, while Yasiel Puig was 1-for-3. Kenley Jansen took the loss as he gave up two earned runs on three hits in one inning of relief.
Clayton Richard (7-10, 5.11 ERA) gets the start today for the Padres, while LA will go with Rich Hill (5-4, 3.73).
MLB Betting Trends
San Diego
The Padres are 16-42 in their last 58 games overall. San Diego is 8-20 in its last 28 Friday games.
Los Angeles
The Dodgers are 2-6 in their last eight games following a loss. The under is 11-4-1 in the last 16 Los Angeles games overall.
Prediction:
Los Angeles has been struggling, but perhaps the Padres are the get-right antidote. Richard is very hittable, while Hill can spin a gem when he's on. With two teams to jump to win the NL West along with a competitive Wild Card situation, the Dodgers can't afford a lot of slip ups in games they should win. I'm going to go with LA on the runline today as this is another game it should win easily.
