San Francisco Giants Fantasy Spin
Jeff Samardzija allowed two runs over 5 1/3 innings in a no-decision against the Diamondbacks on Friday. Samardzija gave up five hits, including a leadoff homer to Ketel Marte, but managed to work into the sixth inning of this one. The 34-year-old veteran righty struck out four batters and also issued a pair of walks. He’ll carry a solid 3.54 ERA, 1.12 WHIP and 119/38 K/BB ratio into his next start against the Cubs in Wrigley Field on Thursday afternoon.
Chicago Cubs Fantasy Spin
Kyle Hendricks pitched well in a no-decision against the Pirates on Friday night, surrendering just one run on three hits over seven strong frames. The right-hander struck out only one batter on the night while issuing one free pass. The only blemish against him came on an RBI single off the bat of Colin Moran in the fourth inning, otherwise he was terrific. He'll carry an impressive 3.37 ERA and 1.13 WHIP into Thursday's start against the Giants.
MLB Betting Trends
San Francisco
The Giants are 4-11 in their last 15 games after losing the first two games of a series.
Chicago
The Cubs are 11-5 in Hendricks’ last 16 home starts.
Prediction:
I’m going to take a flier on the Giants, who are 7-0 in Samardzija’s last seven road starts and 4-1 in his last five outings overall. The Cubs, meanwhile, are just 2-8 in Hendricks’ last 10 starts and have dropped four of his last five outings when he’s coming off a Quality Start in his last appearance.
The Pick: San Francisco Giants +150
