Royals offense goes quietly

Kansas City suffered a 4-1 loss Tuesday night at Baltimore to drop to 45-81 overall and 21-42 on the road. Alex Gordon paced the Royals offense as he went 2-for-4 with a run scored. Meibrys Valoria was 0-for-2 with a walk and an RBI. Jorge Soler finished 1-for-3 plus a walk. Richard Lovelady suffered the loss in relief as he allowed one earned run on three hits with no strikeouts or walks over one inning of work. Mike Montgomery draws the start tonight for KC as he enters with a 3-5 record, 4.63 ERA and 1.54 WHIP with 45 strikeouts over 56 1/3 innings pitched.

Alberto homer lifts O's

After Baltimore tied the score in the seventh inning, the hosts took the lead for good in the bottom of the eighth inning Tuesday night as Hanser Alberto hit a tie-breaking 3-run home run in a 4-1 victory over Kansas City. It was the only hit for Alberto in four at-bats. Jace Peterson ended the contest 1-for-3 with a walk plus two runs scored. Rio Ruiz was 1-for-3 with an RBI. Hunter Harvey picked up the win in relief as he struck out two in a perfect inning of work. Mychal Givens recorded his 10th save as he allowed one hit with one strikeout and no walks in a scoreless frame. Aaron Brooks will start tonight for the Orioles as he comes in with a 2-7 record, 6.49 ERA and 1.43 WHIP with 61 strikeouts over 77 2/3 innings pitched.

MLB Betting Trends

Kansas City

The Royals are 36-80 in their last 116 road games. Kansas City is 6-17 in its last 23 games overall.

Baltimore

The Orioles are 20-47 in their last 67 home games. Baltimore is 1-4 in the last five Brooks starts.

Prediction:

Recency bias has me leaning toward the Royals here as Montgomery seems to have figured something out on the mound and has pitched very well lately. Brooks has been poor most of the season and I'd rather take the pitcher with some positives lately. Baltimore might have won yesterday, but that was after eight straight losses. I think KC takes this one as it's offense isn't very good, but at least has a few mashers in a hitter's haven versus a weak pitcher.
