Orioles beat up again
The Orioles opened the series on Friday with a 9-1 loss to the Red Sox for a fifth straight loss. Baltimore is now 39-83 on the season, 21-40 on the road and 63-51 with the over. The Orioles have Asher Wojciechowski on the mound today. He is 2-5 on the season with a 4.84 ERA.
The Orioles were held to just one run on five hits on Friday night. Trey Mancini drove in the lone run with a double and Jonathan Villar scored the lone run with two hits. Aaron Brooks took the loss to fall to 2-7 on the year. He gave up five runs on eight hits over 5.1 innings of work.
Red Sox win third straight
Boston picked up a third consecutive win on Friday night with a 9-1 win over the Orioles at home. The Red Sox are now 65-59 on the season, 31-32 on the road and 73-48 with the over. Boston has Eduardo Rodriguez on the mound today. He is 13-5 on the season with a 4.31 ERA.
Rick Porcello had one of his stronger outings this year, allowing just one run over six innings to improve to 11-9 on the season. At the plate, Boston put up a lot of extra-base hits. The Sox had six doubles, two triples and a home run in their 12 hits. Andrew Benintendi had three hits with two RBI in the victory while Chris Owings had two RBI and Mookie Betts hit his 21st home run.
MLB Betting Trends
Baltimore
The Orioles are 42-115 in their last 157 road games and 16-42 in their last 58 Saturday games.
Boston
The Red Sox are 24-3 in Rodriguez’ last 27 starts against a losing team and 4-1 in their last five games against a right-handed starter.
Prediction:
Rodriguez is picking up wins despite not having the best performances on the mound. However, he has been good against the Orioles, posting a 2-0 record with a 1.98 ERA over two starts. Wojciechowski hasn’t been awful for the Orioles, but he can’t keep runs off the board. He has thrown 7.1 scoreless innings against the Red Sox this year, but I don’t see that happening today. Boston has a lot of power at home and I expect the Sox to give Rodriguez plenty of run support to work with.
MLB Prediction: Boston Red Sox -1.5 (-170)
