Blue Jays’ Stroman goes five strong in no-decision vs. Rays
Marcus Stroman worked five innings of one-run ball Sunday in the Blue Jays' 2-1 win over the Rays. Stroman was lifted at just 76 pitches, perhaps due to that lingering blister on his right middle finger. He was efficient and effective while he was on the bump, scattering five hits and a walk over his five frames while striking out two a no-decision. The 27-year-old right-hander lowered his season ERA from 5.20 to 5.03
Yankees’ Lynn pitches well again in no-decision vs. Rangers
Lance Lynn pitched well in a no-decision against the Rangers on Saturday, allowing just one run on five hits over his five innings of work. The right-hander racked up eight strikeouts on the afternoon while walking three. The only damage against him came on an RBI single by Elvis Andrus in the third inning. Lynn became the first hurler in franchise history to begin his Yankees' career with three straight starts of five or more strikeouts while allowing one or fewer earned runs. He'll look to further improve upon his 4.46 ERA and 1.54 WHIP when he takes on the Rays on Thursday.
MLB Betting Trends
Toronto
The Blue Jays have won six of their last seven games played on Friday.
New York
The Yankees are just 1-7 in their last eight games versus the rest of the American League East.
Prediction:
Their divisional woes notwithstanding, the Yankees are a good play tonight. The Blue Jays are just 2-5 in their last seven games played at Yankee Stadium, are 1-6 in their last seven meetings with the Bronx Bombers, and are winless in Stroman’s last five road starts versus the Yanks. There’s more value on the runline so I’m laying the 1.5.
The Pick: New York Yankees -1.5 (+115)
