Los Angeles Dodgers Fantasy Spin
Cody Bellinger delivered his 40th homer of the year off the Marlins' Austin Brice in Thursday's loss. While Bellinger has never again reached April's highs, he's been consistently great throughout; his OPSs by month are 1.397, .998, .967, .952 and .947 so far in August. He's the first Dodger to reach 40 homers in a season since Adrian Beltre hit 48 in 2004.
Atlanta Braves Fantasy Spin
Freddie Freeman bashed two solo home runs and walked twice as his team fell to the Mets on Thursday. The Braves fell way behind early and then came storming back late. Freeman led the charge by homering in the eighth and ninth innings, but both came with the bases empty and the team ended up falling short when time ran out. The veteran first baseman is on pace to set new career highs across the board and he has a batting average over .300 for the fourth year in a row, which is an extreme rarity in baseball these days. He is slashing .311/.405/.577 with 31 home runs, 98 RBI and 96 runs scored in 122 games. His career highs (in various seasons) are 34 homers, 109 RBI and 102 runs -- all of which will fall in the coming days.
MLB Betting Trends
Los Angeles
The Dodgers are 3-8 in Maeda’s last 11 road starts.
Atlanta
The Braves have won six of Soroka’s last seven starts at home.
Prediction:
The Dodgers are 8-3 in their last 11 trips to Atlanta and are 36-17 in their last 53 games versus the Braves overall. Despite not being profitable when Maeda has pitched recently, the Dodgers are still 41-18 in their last 59 games coming off a loss and are 38-14 in their last 52 games when facing a team with a winning record. I love the value here with the Dodgers getting plus odds.
The Pick: Los Angeles Dodgers +107
