Twins struggling

Minnesota is coming off a 6-5 loss to the Brewers last night. The Twins have dropped six of their last eight games. Minnesota is 72-48 overall, 36-22 on the road and 61-52 with the over. Devin Smeltzer is getting the start for Minnesota today. He is 1-2 on the season with a 3.66 ERA.

The Twins are one of the top hitting teams in the league. Minnesota is averaging 5.72 runs per game while batting .269 as a team. On the mound, Minnesota has a 4.15 team ERA with a 1.30 team WHIP. The Twins are without one of their top hitters right now in Nelson Cruz, who has a wrist injury. He has 32 home runs and 76 RBI this year. Max Kepler has 27 doubles, 32 home runs and 78 RBI to lead Minnesota this season.

Rangers grab a win

Texas avoided a sweep on the road against the Blue Jays yesterday by picking up a 7-3 win at Toronto. The Rangers are also just 2-6 in their last eight games. Texas is 60-60 overall, 35-22 at home and 61-55 with the under. Pedro Payano gets the start for the Rangers today. He is 1-1 on the season with a 3.86 ERA.

The Twins are putting up 5.12 runs per game on offense this season while batting .249 as a team. On the mound, Minnesota has a 4.95 team ERA with a 1.44 team WHIP. Rougned Odor is leading the team this season with 21 doubles, 21 home runs and 65 RBI while Nomar Mazara is adding 24 doubles, 17 home runs and 60 RBI.

MLB Betting Trends

Minnesota

The Twins are 7-1 in their last eight series openers and 15-7 in their last 22 games against AL West opponents.

Texas

The Rangers are 5-1 in their last six games against a left-handed starter and 10-4 in their last 14 games against AL Central opponents.

Prediction:

Payano hasn’t looked too bad in his brief stint with the Rangers, allowing eight earned runs over 18.2 innings. He has struggled with walks, putting up 12. Smeltzer is coming off a poor outing against the Indians, but he threw five innings against the Rangers earlier in the year and allowed just one run. The Twins don’t have Cruz, which could matter, but I still like Minnesota to do enough damage at the plate to get the win.

MLB Prediction: Minnesota Twins -155
