Angels’ Pena allows three runs in start vs. A’s
Felix Pena pitched 5 2/3 innings and allowed three runs Friday against the A's. If Pena could have gotten one more out, he likely would have ended up with the win tonight. Instead, it went to Jim Johnson, who got the last out of the sixth and then came out. Pena has just one run in his nine starts for the Halos, though he's done surprisingly solid work overall. While he hasn't worked deep into games, he's given up more than three runs just once.
Padres’ Erlin allows four runs in start vs. Brewers
Robbie Erlin yielded four runs -- two earned -- over five innings in his start Thursday against the Brewers. Erlin has allowed five runs -- three earned -- through 10 innings in his two starts since being added to the Padres rotation. He might get shuffled back to the pen later on if some of the Padres' younger arms perform better, but the team figures to stick with him for now.
MLB Betting Trends
LA Angels
The Angels have won six of their last eight games overall but are just 8-20 in their last 28 road games.
San Diego
The Padres have dropped 37 of their last 52 games overall and are 7-19 in their last 26 home games.
Prediction:
The under is 5-1-1 in Roman De Jesus’ last seven games behind home plate and is 5-1 in his last six interleague games behind the dish. The under is also 6-1 in Pena’s last seven starts, is 9-4-1 in their last 14 games versus the National League West and is 7-2 in their last nine games versus a left-handed starter. On the other side, the under is 4-0 in Erlin’s last four interleague starts and 7-1 in his last eight outings coming off five days of rest.
The Pick: Angels/Padres under 8
