Rangers blanked
Texas was shutout on Tuesday night, 3-0, losing their sixth in the last seven games. The Rangers are now 59-60 overall, 24-38 on the road and 61-55 with the under. Texas has Kolby Allard on the mound today. He is 0-0 on the season with a 4.15 ERA.
The Rangers couldn’t capitalize on a strong outing from Lance Lynn on Tuesday. He threw five innings and allowed one run with six strikeouts. Lynn took the loss to fall to 14-8 on the year. At the plate, Texas had just five hits, three of which were doubles. Danny Santana had two doubles to lead the team on the night.
Jays staying warm
Toronto has won five of its last seven games thanks to Tuesday’s 3-0 win over the Rangers. The Blue Jays are now 51-72 on the season, 24-36 at home and 61-58 with the under. Toronto has Sean Reid-Foley on the mound this afternoon. He is 2-2 on the year with a 2.36 ERA.
Toronto managed its three runs on Tuesday on three solo home runs. Randal Grichuk, Billy McKinney and Teoscar Hernandez all went deep in the victory. Grichuk was the lone Blue Jays with multiple hits in the win. On the mound, five different Blue Jay pitchers combined for the shutout. Thomas Pannone got his third win, throwing four scoreless innings. Ken Giles earned his 16th save with a hitless ninth.
MLB Betting Trends
Texas
The Rangers are just 1-7 in their last eight road games and 1-5 in their last six Wednesday games.
Toronto
The Blue Jays have won five of their last six at home and are 8-3 in their last 11 against a team with a losing record.
Prediction:
Reid-Foley has thrown in just seven games this year, but they have all been pretty good outings. He has given up just two earned runs over his last 17.1 innings of work. Allard made his first start of the year last week in Milwaukee and gave up two runs over 4.1 innings. Given the struggles the Rangers are on lately, and in this series, I don’t put a lot of faith in him being able to turn things around on his own. Toronto is hitting well and with power and the Jays have one of their stronger pitchers on the mound today against a lineup that is trending on the negative.
MLB Prediction: Toronto Blue Jays -125
