Bote stuns Nats with grand slam
Cubs rookie third baseman David Bote, filling in for the injured Kris Bryant, played the role of hero Sunday night as he hit a two-out grand slam down to his last strike to send the home team to a 4-3 victory over Washington. It was Bote's first at-bat of the game as he entered as a pinch hitter in the ninth inning. Jason Heyward was 1-for-4 with a run, while Albert Almora Jr. finished 1-for-3 with a run. Justin Wilson picked up the win as he struck out one in two-thirds of an inning of relief.
Jhoulys Chacin (11-4, 3.91 ERA) will start today for the Brewers, while the Cubs are countering with Jose Quintana (10-8, 4.28).
MLB Betting Trends
Milwaukee
The over is 7-1 in the last eight Milwaukee games overall. The under is 22-8 in the last 30 Brewers games on Tuesdays.
Chicago
The Cubs are 3-9 in their last 12 games following a win. Chicago is 18-8 in its last 26 home games.
Prediction:
Quintana has had a rocky season, but he often is able to rise to the occasion in more important constests. Chacin started out the season great for Milwaukee, but his luck has slowed lately and now stares at a tough road matchup at the Cubs. Going with the home team seems like the smart bet here.
