Sox lose opener
The White Sox have lost three straight and six of their last seven following a 9-5 loss to the Tigers on Monday. Chicago is now 42-76 overall and 20-38 on the road. Chicago is putting up 4.03 runs per game this year while allowing 5.41 per contest.
Lucas Giolito is getting the start for Chicago tonight. He is making his 24th start of the season and comes in with a 7-9 record, a 6.23 ERA and a 1.50 WHIP. Giolito has 84 strikeouts and 71 walks over 125.2 innings of work.
Tigers looking for win streak
The Tigers have won back-to-back games and three of their last four following Monday’s win over Chicago. Detroit is now 50-69 overall and 32-28 at home. The Tigers are scoring just 3.81 runs per game this season while allowing 4.60 per contest.
Blaine Hardy gets the start for the Tigers this evening. It will be his 13th start of the season and 23rd overall appearance. Hardy has a 4-4 record with a 3.63 ERA and a 1.18 WHIP. He has 54 strikeouts and 19 walks over 74.1 innings of work.
MLB Betting Trends
Chicago
The White Sox have lost 24 of their last 31 Tuesday games, but they have actually won four of Giolito’s last five road starts.
Detroit
The Tigers have won five of their last six home games, but they have lost four of Hardy’s last five starts.
Prediction:
On paper, Hardy is the better pitcher, but is coming off a poor showing against the Angels on the road. He has been strong against Chicago, posting a 1.46 ERA over 12.1 innings this year. Giolito has struggled with a lot of teams and the Tigers are among them. He has an 8.18 ERA over two starts. Detroit is actually a winning team at home and has hit the ball well in recent days. I look for them to ride that momentum to another win.
The Pick: Detroit Tigers -135
