Giants hold off Pirates
San Francisco led 4-1 heading into the eighth inning and then held on after Pittsburgh scored twice that frame to win 4-3 Sunday afternoon. Brandon Crawford went 1-for-3 with a double, a walk and a run to help pace the offense. Gorkys Hernandez finished 1-for-4 and scored two runs. Joe Panik was 1-for-3 and scored two runs. Steven Duggar went 2-for-3 and scored a run, while Nick Hundley ended the game 2-for-3 and drove in two. Dereck Rodriguez picked up the win as he allowed one earned run on two hits with four strikeouts and one walk over seven innings. Will Smith earned his eighth save as he struck out two in a perfect inning.
Dodgers make three errors in loss
Los Angeles was sloppy in its getaway game Sunday afternoon as it committed three errors in a 4-3 defeat at the Rockies. Brian Dozier helped pace the offense as he finished 2-for-3 with two walks and two RBIs. Yasiel Puig went 2-for-3 with a walk and a run. Cody Bellinger ended the contest 2-for-4. Dylan Floro took the loss in relief as he surrendered one earned run on one hit with one strikeout and three walks over two-thirds of an inning.
Madison Bumgarner (4-4, 2.69 ERA) gets the nod for the Giants today, while the Dodgers are turning to Clayton Kershaw (5-5, 2.58).
