Yankees drop another to Toronto

The New York Yankees were on a 9-game win streak earlier in the week, but are coming off back-to-back losses to the Blue Jays. New York is 77-40 overall, 34-32 on the road and 65-48 with the over. The Yankees have Masahiro Tanaka on the mound today. He is 7-6 on the season with a 4.93 ERA.

New York had a 4-3 lead late in Saturday’s game, but gave up a pair of runs in the bottom of the seventh. Adam Ottavino gave up the two runs to take a loss and pick up his fifth blown save of the year. New York spread out six pitchers on Saturday, with Chad Green throwing just one inning in his start. At the plate, Gary Sanchez hit his 25^th home run of the year, a solo shot, while Gio Urshela had a two-run shot.

Jays stun Yankees again

Toronto has earned a pair of wins over the Yankees the last two nights thanks to a 5-4 win on Saturday. The Jays are 49-71 on the season, 22-35 at home and 59-57 with the under. Toronto has Trent Thornton getting the start tonight. He is 4-7 on the season with a 5.55 ERA.

Vlad Guerrero Jr. continued his big second half of the season on Saturday with a two-run triple in the seventh to spark the win for Toronto. He now has 51 RBI on the year and his two hits raised his average up to .274. Teoscar Hernandez drove in the other three runs on his 18^th home run of the year. Jason Adam got the win in relief, pitching 1.1 scoreless innings. Derek Law earned his third save of the year by recording the final four outs.

Prediction:

The Yankees have had good results with Tanaka on the mound despite some pretty rough outings as of late. He has given up at least five runs in three of his last four starts and he has just a 4.50 ERA against the Blue Jays this season. Thornton has had eight of his last 10 starts come on the road, but his home numbers are a mess. He is 1-4 with a 6.58 ERA at home and he has a 9.72 ERA against the Yankees. While Toronto is playing well as of late, I just can’t see the Yankees losing three straight to them.
