Astros put up 23

Houston absolutely blew past Baltimore on Saturday, picking up a 23-2 win to extend its win streak to eight games. The Astros are 77-40 on the season, 34-25 on the road and 62-50 with the under. Houston has Justin Verlander on the mound today. He is 15-4 on the season with a 2.68 ERA.

Houston had 25 hits for its 23 runs on Saturday, scoring in all but two of the nine innings. They had six home runs as a team with three coming from Yordan Alvarez. He finished the game with four runs and seven RBI. Jose Altuve, Carlos Correa and Alex Bregman also went long and combined for eight RBI. The run support was great for Aaron Sanchez, who got his fifth win of the year. He threw five innings and struck out six while allowing just three hits.

Orioles lit up again

Baltimore dropped its fifth straight game on Saturday and the Orioles have allowed 58 runs over the five games. The Orioles are now 38-78 on the season, 17-43 at home and 58-50 with the over. Baltimore has Asher Wojciechowski on the mound today. He is 2-5 on the year with a 4.89 ERA.

The Baltimore pitching imploded once again, allowing 23 earned runs on 25 hits over nine innings. Aaron Brooks got things started by allowing nine runs over three innings to fall to 2-6 on the year. At the plate, Baltimore had six hits for its two runs. Rio Ruiz had a solo home run to lead the way while Anthony Santander was the lone player with multiple hits.

MLB Betting Trends

Houston

The Astros have won nine straight Game 3’s of a series and six of their last seven road games.

Baltimore

The Orioles are 13-38 in their last 51 games against a right-handed starter and 7-19 in their last 26 Sunday games.

Prediction:

Well, the Astros certainly showed what they are capable of on Saturday. Now, they have their ace on the mound in Justin Verlander. He has allowed just one earned run over his last 19 innings of work. Wojciechowski is another example of the awful Baltimore pitching. He has given up nine runs over his last 8.2 innings. I’m not sure what arms the Orioles can really offer to contend with this Houston lineup. They just have to hope the Astros have swing fatigue from Saturday’s performance.

MLB Prediction: Houston Astros -1.5 (-230)
