Brewers' Miley pitches five innings in no-decision vs. Rockies
Wade Miley surrendered three runs on five hits over five innings in a no-decision against the Rockies on Sunday. Miley struck out five batters, but wasn't especially sharp with his control in this one, issuing three walks. He threw only 48 of 72 pitches for strikes and was lifted after a tumultuous fourth inning which included a three-run homer off the bat of Trevor Story. Miley has been excellent for the Brewers this season, allowing three runs or less in seven consecutive starts dating back to May 2. The 31-year-old southpaw is 2-1 with a 2.10 ERA, 1.25 WHIP and 22/18 K/BB ratio over 34 1/3 innings. He’ll face the Braves in SunTrust Park on Saturday.
Braves' Teheran struggles versus Mets
Julio Teheran was charged with three runs over 5 2/3 innings Sunday, getting charged with a no-decision in the Braves' 5-4 extra-innings win over the Mets. Teheran punched out six batters, but he tied a season high with four walks and served up his National League-leading 22nd home run. The veteran right-hander actually also hit a home run himself, which was the first of his eight-year career. Teheran has posted back-to-back quality starts just once since the beginning of June and struggled this week in ideal matchups versus the Marlins and Mets. He should be benched against the Brewers next weekend.
MLB Betting Trends
Milwaukee
The Brewers have dropped four of their last five games overall and 13 of 19 on the road.
Atlanta
The Braves are 4-0 in their last four home games and 9-3 in their last 12 games overall.
Prediction:
The Brewers are struggling but this is a spot where we can target them as a value play. Teheran continues to struggle and the Braves are just 3-8 in his last 11 starts versus the National League Central opponents. The Brewers are also 4-1 in their last five road games versus a right-handed starter and 6-2 in their last eight games overall against a right-handed starter.
The Pick: Milwaukee Brewers -112
