Royals homer twice in loss
Kansas City lost for a second straight day at Detroit Friday night as it fell by a count of 5-2. Whit Merrifield helped lead the Royals offensively as he finished 1-for-3 with a solo home run plus a walk. Jorge Soler went 2-for-4 with a solo homer. Bubba Starling ended the game 2-for-4 with a double. Brad Keller took the loss as he surrendered five earned runs on 10 hits over six innings, striking out six and walking three. Jackson wins in return to Detroit
Edwin Jackson threw 6 1/3 strong innings Friday night in his first start for Detroit since 2009 to pick up the win in a 5-2 victory. Jackson allowed one earned run on four hits with four strikeouts and two walks before departing. Joe Jimenez retired the final batter of the game for his first save of the season. Dawel Lugo helped lead the Tigers offensively as he finished 3-for-4 with two RBIs. Jake Rogers went 1-for-4 with a solo home run. Miguel Cabrera was 1-for-2 with two walks, a run and an RBI. MLB Betting Trends
Kansas City
The Royals are 2-12 in their last 14 games overall. Kansas City is 0-4 in the last four Montgomery starts.
Detroit
The Tigers are 11-41 in their last 52 games overall. Detroit is 0-6 in the last six Turnbull home starts.
Prediction:
Betting on the Tigers to win a third straight game seems crazy, but the thing is they have the better starting pitcher on the mound and a couple of the young call-ups have injected a bit of life into the offense lately. Turnbull hasn't been as efficient as he was earlier in the season, but he faces a weak offense here and I think he'll have success. Go with Detroit to win a third straight game here.
